Structural Engineering Consultants
An extension to an existing Victorian terraced house, this project provided a new studio and washroom. Constructed from Douglas fir frame and ply and clad in anthracite zinc, the interior structure has been left entirely exposed. Structural elements were treated as part of the room’s bespoke joinery, which includes modular furniture as well as built in shelves and desk that are supported by the vertical structural members. As one wall was considered as a partition wall, the structural elements and ply wall were fire engineered to satisfy building control while remaining exposed without any additional fire treatment.
