Structural Engineering Consultant
The NFL’s New York Jets have been training at the state-of-the-art Florham Park, New Jersey facility since its opening in 2008. The training and conditioning center also houses the management headquarters for the Jets, helps streamline the team’s operations, improves security for the players, protects the development of game strategy from external parties, and provides key team sponsors with exclusive access to players.
The facility consists of four outdoor fields and one indoor field that are completely secured from unauthorized access. The indoor field is framed with a pre-engineered structure boasting a 100-ft clear height at mid-span. The remaining facility is on two levels that surround an outdoor field on three sides. This two-level space is framed with structural steel on conventional spread footings.
The center also includes fitness and therapy spaces for the players and a business center for potential sponsors.
Challenge: The project plan called for the design team to produce structural documentation before other consultants turned in their work.
Solution: Given our vast experience designing sports venues, we identified the information that would be required and had the knowledge on how best to guide the owner and construction team when dealing with specifications, risks, and other project variables.
