The York Region Administrative Centre Annex (ACA) is a $200 million, eight-storey, 422,000-square-foot building that will be home to the Provincial Offences Act Courts and several regional departments. An 80m long enclosed pedestrian bridge will connect the proposed ACA building to the main York Region Administrative Centre at 17250 Yonge Street.
The bridge will be comprised of structural steel trusses sitting on 4 concrete piers. One particular challenge was addressing the flood zone terrain directly underneath the bridge. The two middle concrete piers were designed to withstand debris impact in a flood scenario.
