You Can’t Be What You Can’t See: Changing the Recruiting Game for Future Engineers with Entuitive U

Entuitive announced today the official launch of Entuitive U, a unique recruiting platform that turns the traditional AEC recruiting process on its head.
With this new platform, Entuitive is showing prospective candidates what it’s really like to work at an advanced consulting engineering firm, providing virtual activities and learning modules based on real projects that, once completed, can bolster a candidate’s application.
Learning. Curiosity. Critical Thinking.
But it’s not just about getting an A+. The activities are designed to expose candidates to engineering challenges that the Entuitive team has encountered on real projects, as well as provide their opinions on different aspects of the industry.
“When I was in engineering school, I realized that my peers and I didn’t have a tangible understanding of what working at a structural engineering firm was like,” says Stephen Cohos, founder of Entuitive U. “Now, looking back, I believe that was a missed opportunity we could impact, so I wanted to provide a “window into the workshop” for students who are currently figuring out what their future in the AEC industry could be.”
Together, these activities help us see the full picture of who a candidate is as a person and whether they are a good fit for Entuitive.
Though the platform is currently geared towards new graduates, we strongly encourage all prospective candidates to check out Entuitive U before applying.
We believe that real engineering goes beyond the textbook. As such, Entuitive U’s aim is threefold:
1. Expose candidates to the wide variety of career options and paths available in engineering generally and at Entuitive specifically.
2. Help candidates improve their skills through the specially developed activities, regardless of whether they choose to apply to Entuitive.
3. Allow Entuitive to learn about each candidate holistically during the recruitment process.
You Can’t Be What You Can’t See
As with most academic programs and their corresponding real-world jobs, there exists a gap between what students learn in engineering school and what their day-to-day role will actually encompass as a practicing engineer.
Part of the aim of Entuitive U is to bridge this gap by showing prospective candidates the wide range of projects and possibilities available at Entuitive. While the activities provide a window into the workshop of consulting engineering, our Career Path Stories illustrate the varied and exciting career paths forged in engineering.
We know that you can’t be what you can’t see. Entuitive U shows you what’s possible.
Driving Innovation with Entuitive U
Entuitive U was born out of our 2020 Dragon’s Den-style Ennovation challenge that asked our people to submit their ideas for how we could better live up to our brand promise of uncompromising performance. Up for grabs was $10,000 worth of time and resources to test the concept for validation and implementation.
Stephen Cohos’ Entuitive U was a co-winner of that challenge, and since then the idea has been in testing and validation mode.
“The idea really came together when I started thinking about how the NCAA and professional sports teams recruit their best players,” says Stephen. “They identify talent early on, assess the athletes’ abilities, and finally recruit and draft them into their franchise through a rigorous discovery program that spans many cities and countries. I realized we could learn a lot from this process.”

Graduating From Entuitive U: Janine Buzar Shares Her Experience
During the Entuitive U testing phase, one of our applicants, Janine Buzar, successfully graduated from Entuitive U to earn a full-time position with us as a Designer.
“As a fresh graduate student from the University of Calgary with a Structural Engineering Minor, I really found these activities exciting and insightful,” says Janine. “The moment I saw Entuitive U, I saw an opportunity to see what it is like to be a structural engineer in the company. I also saw an opportunity to apply and put into practice some of the things I learned in university. Entuitive U is a unique platform, helping candidates assess what they know, what they don’t know, and what they’d like to learn more about in an interactive way.
“For me, the activities are more than just asking technical questions. They also provide design techniques, things to consider in practice as a designer, and tips and tricks based on the engineers’ own experiences. They encourage you to think outside the box. I also appreciated the tone and narration, which made it seem like I was being mentored directly by the engineers who worked on these projects – and I am happy and grateful that now I get the opportunity to interact and learn from them every day.”
Entuitive U: Your Future Is Here
We want to change the way recruiting is done in the AEC industry. Entuitive U connects us to you. We look beyond your resume to learn who you are and how you think. This allows us to make the most informed decision when it comes to recruitment.
