Challenge
Amenity and public space below modules requires a transfer structure that is compatible with the unique modular system.
Solution
Wide-flanged structural steel sections were used to develop a series of transfer structures at Level 3 and Level 4 that support the housing and hallway modules. Special detailing of the connections to the transfer structure enables tolerance in the modular system above.
Challenge
The modular structure is supported at Level 2 by a proprietary composite framing system that forms the parking structure.
Solution
In-depth coordination between all disciplines was done to optimize the support locations for all modules, reducing the number of concrete elements required and simplifying the modular structural steel. Multiple analysis models were developed to fully capture the effects of the transfer structure and its movements on the modules above.
