Originally constructed in 2004, the Vivo for Healthier Generations facility was designed to promote healthy living through innovation.

The existing facility includes two NHL-sized ice arenas, a triple gymnasium, fitness centre, leisure pools, climbing wall, multipurpose spaces, child minding and preschool, a Calgary Public Library branch, research and innovation lab, health services, and community organizations.

A new two-storey addition will increase the existing facility by approximately 36% to accommodate a new aquatic centre with a 25-metre, six-lane lap pool, steam room and sauna, increased fitness area, research and innovation spaces, community multi-purpose spaces, an indoor park, and exterior courtyards for the community and program use. The project also includes renovations to the existing facility.
