After more than 40 years in the structural engineering field, and seven years with Entuitive, Rob Ellis is retiring. Rob has made significant contributions to Entuitive and to the industry.
A dedicated team player, Rob is an expert in structural steel, timber, reinforced concrete, and cable structures. He has led healthcare teams and projects for most of his career, including at Entuitive. Rob exemplified the collaborative hands-on Principal approach to project delivery that Entuitive is known for, and he has always been liked, trusted, and respected by his clients, including architects, public hospitals, and healthcare centres throughout Canada.
Rob’s impressive portfolio includes the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan, Trillium Health Centre, Women’s College Hospital, Toronto East General Hospital, Sheppard Lodge Long Term Care, the Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford, Southlake Regional Health Centre, the Runnymede Healthcare Centre, Mount Sinai Hospital, and many more.
Rob’s non-healthcare work includes the Bramalea Retirement Home, the UofT New College (Willcocks) Residence, the Royal York Hotel expansion, the Sherway Gardens expansion, the Four Seasons Hotel Headquarters, and the Centennial GO Parking Garage, to name just a few.
For much of the last year, Rob has worked hard with his project teams to ensure a smooth transition and has introduced a successor for each project so all clients will be left in good hands. For future work, Brian van Bussel can be contacted for special projects and Sean Smith can be contacted for P3 and healthcare work.
Beyond his professional and project work, Rob has always demonstrated the leadership we aspire to at Entuitive. He leads by example, cares deeply about his clients, grows and develops teams of great engineers, and provides coaching and mentorship at every opportunity.
Rob has said that his greatest joy is working with his team and his clients and he considers so many of his clients to be lifelong friends.
