As part of the Calgary Housing Strategic Plan, the Bridlewood Affordable Housing project creates 62 new affordable housing units in the community of Bridlewood.

The development includes 16 four-bedroom townhomes, 30 two-bedroom townhomes, and 16 units of two-bedroom stacked townhomes, eight of which are barrier-free as well as a shared amenity space, including a community space, kitchen, washroom, small laundry, waste management facility, and green space.

The building envelope systems include residential siding/cladding products appropriate to a multi-family residence, masonry, high-performance vinyl window frames with triple-insulated glass units as well as a sloped asphalt shingle and low slope membrane roof assemblies.

Challenge
Meet high-performance targets for the development, which had not been required prior to this project for the city.
Solution
Develop a flexible process during the design phase to provide a range of options for the building envelope assemblies that could meet or exceed the targets. The flexibility provided for a range of budget options but was held firm during construction to ensure targets were met.
