Burrard Exchange Office & Retail

This project involves the design and construction of a new, hybrid mass timber commercial office building.

The development includes a reconfiguration of the existing commercial space below and at grade.

The project aspires to enhance the workplace environment by incorporating the latest in building technology and sustainability initiatives, achieving a minimum LEED Gold Certification.

Additionally, City of Vancouver energy requirements must be met. Other initiatives, such as Well Building Certification, Net Zero Carbon, Fitwel, etc., are being considered.

KEY CONSIDERATIONS

Challenge One

The project is an in-fill site between the vibrant existing Bentall Centre towers and connects to the underground retail concourse adjacent to the Burrard Skytrain station.

Solution One

We worked closely with the team of consultants to develop an envelope approach that responds to the existing conditions while also generating a vibrant and engaging office and retail space with a focus on thermal comfort and energy savings.
