The Brearley School Renovation & Expansion
Founded in 1884, The Brearley School is a K-12 all-girls private school in New York City.
The Brearly School is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City.
The school teaches students to think critically and creatively, preparing them for purposeful lives beyond its halls.
The new building aims to be sustainable, with standards of LEED Platinum or better, all while taking into consideration vibration and acoustic migration resulting from the new performance center.
As part of its “Opening Doors: A Strategic Vision for The Brearley School” plan, the school aims to modernize its campus and realize the full potential of its program and community. Entuitive was retained by KPMB Architects for work on a new schoolhouse as well as on the renovation of an existing schoolhouse.

KEY CONSIDERATIONS
Challenge One
Strict security measures for students, requiring an opaque façade.
Solution One
To respect the architecture, a decision to incline the brick façade was made so that the bracing system became non-standard in appearance.
