New Construction
Our building envelope team has expansive knowledge of building envelope materials and systems, including waterproofing, wall assemblies, glazing systems, roofing assemblies, and everything in between that separates outside from inside. Our goal is to be involved early to help identify potential challenges and opportunities, and integrate those throughout the design process, construction, and occupancy.
BUILDING ENVELOPE DESIGN
We balance many criteria, including aesthetics, function, constructability, cost, performance, and durability, when working with the design team to develop appropriate building envelope solutions. Our focus is to see designs come to life by actively participating in each step of the design and construction process.
CONSTRUCTION & CONTRACTOR SUPPORT
Our team of building envelope specialists work with project teams and contractors to provide real-time construction phase support, such as special inspections or field testing, to verify field installations, or as required by project specifications/warranty, and third-party opinions for troubleshooting unexpected conditions on site.
BUILDING ENCLOSURE COMMISSIONING (BECx)
Following established standards, our trained and certified BECx team tracks the building enclosure design to monitor compliance with the owner's project requirements and set the expectations for each party to the commissioning process. We work closely with the design and construction team to ensure the built product is monitored and tested to verify compliance, providing post-construction owner training and warranty review to ensure that performance is maintained once all parties leave the site.
PASSIVE HOUSE & NET ZERO CONSULTING
Our team of building envelope specialists, and certified Passive House designers/consultants, work with design teams to develop building envelope solutions that provide formidable thermal performance, minimal thermal bridging, and significant air tightness that ultimately leads to the realization of vast operational energy savings in comparison to conventional projects.
THERMAL PERFORMANCE & ENERGY MODELLING
We help our clients make essential design decisions by providing initial and progressive detail modelling and theoretical calculations on performance indicators that are integrated into energy models simulating how the building should perform, while identifying areas for improvement.
FAÇADE ENGINEERING
Our façade engineers provide glass, aluminum, and steel engineering for specialty façade systems, skylights, glass roofs, bridges, and railings. Our team provides these services as both a complementary within our standard building envelope consulting, and directly to manufacturers as a third-party engineer.
FIELD TESTING
We support our clients and construction partners by performing field testing during the construction and post-construction phase of a project. Such testing includes water leakage testing, air tightness testing, infrared thermography, and moisture testing.
BUILDING DECARBONIZATION PLANNING
Our holistic approach to master planning allows us to establish performance thresholds during the design phase of a project, presenting feasible solutions to our clients for reducing the overall carbon footprint of their asset.
ROOFING & WATERPROOFING CONSULTING
We analyze design conditions and provide a range of roofing and waterproofing solutions, ensuring the system and assembly fits the project scope, budget, schedule, performance, durability requirements, and architectural considerations. Our team has the expertise to help select the right system for the water levels, soil conditions, and foundation systems. Likewise, we help design teams select the right roof orientation, assembly, and membrane system for the given roof exposure, access, and use.
